Frequently asked questions.

What is a consultation call?

It is a chance for us to get to know each other, for you to ask any questions you may have, and for us to see if we would be a good therapeutic fit. The call typically lasts 15-20 minutes.

At the end of the call, I will make initial recommendations about next steps. If we decide together that we are a good therapeutic fit, typically we will go ahead and schedule our first session.

What is your approach to therapy?

I practice a collaborative approach to therapy, meaning that I work with you to facilitate growth through personalized strategies developed in close collaboration with you. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based modalities, specifically: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and exposure response prevention. I also incorporate mindfulness, somatic approaches, interpersonal process, and strengths-based approaches into my practice.

I am a firm believer that one of the most important aspects of therapy is the therapeutic relationship. It is important that you feel safe, supported, and like we are in this together. I always welcome and incorporate your feedback and honor that you are the expert on yourself and your experiences.

What happens during our first session?

Meeting with a new therapist can sometimes feel intimidating! My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable and at ease. The first session involves getting to know you, learning what brings you to therapy, and identifying initial goals for our work together. I will ask some structured questions and we will have conversations about a broad range of topics that are important to you. I will also check in with you throughout the process to see how you are feeling.

How are sessions offered?

I offer in-person and virtual sessions. Some of my clients select all virtual, all in-person, or a combo of the two. It is entirely up to you, and you are welcome to change how we meet to adapt to your situation and circumstances!

What are your fees?

Phone consultation (15-20 minutes): No Charge

Initial intake session (75-90 minutes): $265

Individual therapy session (50-60 minutes): $205

I accept payment via debit and credit card (including HSA) at the time of service.

Do you accept insurance?

Please note that I am not contracted with any insurance providers and am considered an out-of-network provider. I am happy to provide you with monthly invoices which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement based on your out-of-network benefits.

If you would like to contact your insurance provider to determine your benefits for out-of-network therapy, here are some questions for you to ask them:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?

  • What are my benefits for out-of-network therapy services?

  • What is my deductible for out-of-network services and has it been met?

  • How much will insurance reimburse me for out-of-network therapy services (for CPT codes 90837 and 90791)?

  • Do I need pre-authorization or a referral from my primary care doctor in order to see a therapist?

Do you offer a sliding scale?

In order to help increase access to affordable and high-quality eating disorder treatment, I am partnered with Project HEAL to provide sliding scale spots to individuals with financial need. Please visit the Project HEAL website to learn more about how to apply for a sliding scale spot.

What happens if I need more support?

Some clients benefit from working with an interdisciplinary team, which may include a therapist, psychiatrist, primary care provider, dietitian, or combination thereof. If you are interested in adding to your team, I can provide referrals. Additionally, if you choose to add to your team or already have an existing team, I collaborate closely with your other providers to ensure that you receive the most comprehensive care.

I also am trained in assessing clients for the appropriate level-of-care and will do so upon your intake session as well as throughout our work together. Should you need more support from a higher level-of-care, I will work closely with you to help you get the care you need.
